Today’s Calendar
8:00 AM — AI After — Colombia
With: Ana Saavedra (CEPA Research Scholar) Duration: 2 hours
Context: Ongoing Colombia Field Trip research project — AI chatbot intervention for 4th graders. Ana is at CEPA (Center for Education Policy Analysis). Reuben’s role is chatbot design and reading level calibration. Multi-modal approach using Gemini, 3 groups in study design.
Prep: Check current state of Colombia chatbot. Last interaction notes were about “get to know you” questions structure (two “what” questions → transition to “why” questions). Review any data Ana may have sent.
2:00 PM — Weekly Personal Review
Solo session (recurring weekly)
Use this block for:
- Review action items — what’s done, what’s stale, what needs escalation
- ISTE follow-ups triage (big batch from this week)
- Tinkery/Christine follow-ups triage
- Process any remaining inbox items
- Trip receipts + Axess timecard if not done yet
- Consider running

Email Action Items
Needs Action
- Isabelle Hau — AI Infrastructure RFP: K-12 AI infrastructure RFP (datasets & benchmarks) at k12-ai-infrastructure.org. Deadline: March 8. Review the RFP and decide if it aligns with SAL/Accelerator Studio work. Flag for Josh if worth pursuing.
Low Priority
- Thomas Steinman (Flint K-12): Sales re-engagement email. Ignore or brief decline.
- Data Sharing Prize nominations (Stanford Libraries) — deadline March 31. FYI only.

- Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview tops benchmarks — outperforming Claude Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.2 on several benchmarks. Cheaper per task. Worth noting for workshop tool recommendations.
- “SaaSpocalypse” — Claude Cowork and open-source plugins causing SaaS stock selloff. Big trend.
- Local AI vs. Cloud (Stanford + Together AI) — Intelligence per watt on local devices rose 5.3x (2023-2025). Laptops handle ~88.7% of queries correctly vs. cloud. Directly relevant for education settings with connectivity/privacy concerns.
- Vibe Coding and the Maker Movement — tension between fast creation and critical evaluation. Relevant to Build-a-Bot workshop design.
- DeepLearning.AI Skill Builder — free AI skills assessment tool. Could share with workshop participants.
