Today’s Calendar
10:00 AM — Josh 1:1
With: Josh Weiss Context: Weekly 1:1 with director. Josh is direct, strategic, focuses on scaling impact and sustainability. Values clear thinking and defensible frameworks. Key prep items:
- OTL/ISTE BREAKTHROUGH — Isabelle wrote to David Mallin at OTL (Office of Technology Licensing) about the ISTE partnership revenue-sharing model. David replied wanting a Monday afternoon call and needs an invention docket filed at otldisclosure.stanford.edu. This is a major step forward — discuss next steps, who joins the Monday call, and who files the docket.
- “3 C’s / Next 12 months” — Josh asked you to think about “Where would I like to go in the next 12 months?” Bring initial thoughts.
- EdTech Teacher Certification — Josh forwarded ISTE’s new certification, asked you to evaluate PD quality. $350 too much; Josh wants a lighter-weight option to sample their quality. Research alternatives before meeting.
- SSIR article — Josh forwarded “Investing in human relationships in the age of AI” (Isabelle’s thesis in Stanford Social Innovation Review). Read or at least skim before meeting.
AI Infrastructure RFP— reviewed, FYI only, no action needed.
2:00 PM — CRAFT Team Meeting — NOT NEEDED TODAY
With: Christine Bywater’s CRAFT team
Status: Found out they don’t need me at this one. Free block!
Note for future: Check craft-general Slack channel the day before CRAFT meetings to see if attendance is needed.
5:30 PM — Donut with Catalina Verdu-Cano
Context: Casual coffee/donut chat. Catalina may have changed the time (email flagged). Low-prep social meeting.

Needs Response
- Isabelle Hau / David Mallin (Mar 4): “Non-Google OTL Question” — David Mallin wants a Monday afternoon call (any time except 3-4pm) + invention docket filed. Coordinate with Josh at 1:1 on who joins and docket filing. This is the ISTE partnership licensing moving forward through OTL.
- Josh Weiss (Mar 3): “EdTech Teacher Certification” — Josh says $350 is too much, wants a lighter PD offering to evaluate ISTE quality. Find an alternative and reply.
- Tamar Brand-Perez (Mar 2): “Connect re: RAG Custom GPTs” — Created a Gemini Gem version of her custom chatbot, but it won’t follow the script/questions she wants. Asking for prompting help. Quick thought-partner reply.
- Wen (Mar 3): “Re: MyBook app” — Glowing feedback! She loves the app. Sent YouTube channel link (youtube.com/@myjob-fyi). Next step: embed the 12 training videos + schedule walkthrough.
Needs Action
- Keith Bowen (Mar 3): “Learning Design Challenge” — Judging on Wednesday March 11, 5-8pm. You’re penciled in for 6:00-6:30pm block. Will send recorded pitches by end of this week. Confirm availability + add to calendar.
- Google Cloud Shell (Mar 4): Deletion notice — 120 days unused, will auto-delete in 7 days. Log in to keep data, or let it go.
FYI
- Josh → SSIR article: “Investing in human relationships in the age of AI” — Isabelle’s thesis. Josh says “worth familiarizing with.” Read before 1:1.
- HarmonAI speakerphone adapter: Leslie Hart and Elizabeth Schumann both loved the latch mechanism update. Positive [QUOTED IMPACT] material.
- Ulrich Boser / Learning Agency: CareerNet career advising benchmark data launch — newsletter item, tangentially relevant.
- Gregory Wilson: “Tinker Club is Back Tomorrow!” — Gregory continuing to be active.
Still Pending from Earlier

Today’s Priorities
Big day — Josh 1:1 is the anchor. OTL/ISTE development is the headline.
- Prep for Josh 1:1 (10am) — The OTL thread is critical. Read Isabelle’s email to David Mallin, understand the invention docket process, and come ready to discuss Monday call logistics. Also prep “3 C’s” thoughts and find a lighter ISTE PD offering to evaluate.
- Skim SSIR article before Josh 1:1 — Isabelle’s thesis on human relationships + AI
- Reply to David Mallin / coordinate OTL response — after aligning with Josh
- CRAFT Team Meeting (2pm) — be ready for Lake Forest visit discussion
Trip receipts → Moraima— already sent yesterday

Look Ahead

- March 29 – April 1: Stanford trip (Tinkery Mon, Lake Forest Tue-Wed) — BOOK TRAVEL
- Monday TBD: OTL call with David Mallin re: ISTE partnership licensing
Session Notes
Josh 1:1 (10am)
Major outcomes:
- OTL/ISTE: Reuben to email Isabelle offering to take a crack at the invention docket. Monday call with David Mallin upcoming.
- ISTE due diligence: Ask Jessica for access to a lighter ISTE course. Find anyone who’s done one.
- CRM survey concept: Draft 5-6 questions for BaB contacts — trusted providers, price points, engagement tiers. Run by Josh async first.
- Priority ordering refined: Reach (primary) → Revenue (secondary) → Model Validation (tertiary)
- Goal 2 SMART goal: Bundle strategic work into public-facing case studies / evidence repository. Ask Joe about format.
- Goal 3 reframe: Test the partnership model. Stake out outcomes for reach/rev/validation. Target 1.5x engagement growth.
- Next step: Write up goals discussion and send to Josh.
- Discussed Isabelle’s SSIR article — “relational intelligence” framing aligns with our work.
