Daily Prep: Monday, June 15, 2026

First of the last four working days before two weeks OOO (Fri Jun 19 → ~Jul 6: Mammoth, then ISTELive Orlando). No work meetings today — a clean focus day. Three deadlines now collapse onto Mon–Thu: the timecard (today), Jessica Tsang’s seed-grant feasibility reviews (officially Jun 23, but you’re out Jun 19 → do this week), and the GPS retrospective (Thu 1:1 checkpoint). Highest-leverage today: file the timecard, then put a real block on the GPS retro and the Jessica reviews.

Open Threads from Friday (Jun 12)

  • GPS retrospective (due Jun 30 → effective Thu Jun 18, since you’re out after). Friday was a recovery day; the writing block is now this week. No 1:1 to checkpoint against until Thursday.
  • ISTE presenter registration + participation agreement (Fizzy #124) — still open since May 28. Hotel + flights booked; registration isn’t.
  • Fix the Jul 1 ISTE calendar event location (still San Antonio / Central → should be Orlando).
  • Dan email — sent Fri Jun 12; Dan already replied (see below). Thread is live and positive.

Today’s Calendar

No Stanford work meetings. Open focus day.

  • All-day (personal): aircraft logs to Josh for the Jun 24 checkride — aviation, not work.
  • ~12:00 PM: personal block (HOLD on the work calendar covering a personal-calendar commitment). Not an AS item.

Calendar reconciliation: Friday’s prep flagged this week’s shape correctly — Mon open, AS:DE Tue, Latvia + Kellie Wed, Josh 1:1 Thu, OOO Fri. Today matches (no work meetings). Nothing dropped or new.

Email Action Items

(Inbox since Friday. Newsletters/Stanford Report/TLDR/Airtable/etc. skipped.)

Needs Response

  • Dan Schwartz — RE: External research on SAL offerings (Jun 12): Green light. “I like the idea and the topic… Given she’s a pharmacology professor, perhaps she’d appreciate some guidance from the Accelerator Studio learning scientists (aka Kristen) on designing her study.” → Directly feeds Wednesday’s Kellie meeting: Dan’s blessing + a concrete next step (loop in Kristen on study design). No urgent reply to Dan needed; carry into Kellie prep.
  • Isabelle Hau — Flashlab Feedback (Jun 15, to you + Josh): A DCI participant was not fully satisfied — two themes: (1) “NY handshake” topic-framing unclear — groups landed in discussion without a defined theme; suggest a topic-align step or a different opener; (2) group size — one table got large and one person dominated; suggests groups of ~3 and grouping people from the same school/PLC who’ll keep working together. Warm, constructive, ED-level. Worth a thoughtful reply this week + folding into the Flash Lab iteration. (Fizzy #133)
  • Sergio / Mica (SofIA) (Jun 12): App’s working end-to-end on Lovable; they have login-structure questions and proposed a session Thu Jun 18, 2pm. Thu has the Josh 1:1 at 10am — 2pm is open, but it’s your last day before OOO. Confirm or offer an alt. (Fizzy #132)
  • Elena Epshtein (Changers / Trinity College Dublin) (Jun 15): Cold inbound — founder of a gamified critical-thinking platform for kids, wants to “join the Accelerator Studio.” AS isn’t an open-application accelerator; needs a polite framing reply, worth a quick triage w/ Josh. Low urgency. (Fizzy #134)

Needs Action

  • Jessica Tsang — Tech feasibility reviews, DUE Jun 23 (Jun 11): You + Josh review 14 finalist “Innovation with Evidence” seed-grant apps — is each feasible to build + study in a 14-month period? (Y/N/need-more-info.) Folder + log link in her email. You’re OOO Jun 19, so this is really a Mon–Thu task. (Fizzy #131) — this is the concrete form of the long-standing “Jessica Tsang big new grant” thread.
  • Timecard 6/1–6/15 — due TODAY via Axess (GSE reminder Jun 12). Also file the 6/16–30 timecard early (by Thu Jun 18) — its Jun 30 deadline lands while you’re at ISTE.
  • Wen — MyBook still not saving kids’ input (Jun 14): You replied “investigating now” this morning. Save bug is back (blocks not persisting). Needs a real fix. (existing: save-bug e4d6e1e1)
  • Cathy Chase (3 comments) + Paige Teameyinterview_data_processed sheet replies still owed. (Fizzy #128)
  • Egencia trip receipts now available (Jun 12) — pull for the STAP / Moraima reimbursement. (existing: receipts-may12)

FYI

  • Joe — Quoted Impact Reminder (monthly nudge): add Quoted Impact to Airtable (sofIA, DCI thank-yous, etc.). End-of-month lands during OOO → do early or punt.
  • Google AI Studio — secure Gemini API access by Jun 19 — vendor deadline; check if any live project depends on it.
  • Legal Foundations Workshop resources thread (Josh / Sarahi) — ties to the still-owed Sarahi workshop-doc links (Fizzy #130).

Slack Catch-Up

  • Josh → you + Joe (group DM, today 9:00am PT) — ACTION / prework due before tomorrow’s AS:DE. Post-retreat momentum on the OKR doc (Josh’s Slack typo’d it “ORK”). Plan: refine the question bank in 5 steps (propose → filter into OKR categories → cross-ref Values → drop misaligned → sort into weekly/monthly/quarterly rituals). #2–5 happen at the weekly meeting; #1 is prework — each person adds ≥3 questions (from rituals/OKRs/priorities/anything) to the bottom of the doc before Tue Jun 16 11am AS:DE. (Fizzy #135)
  • Josh DM (today, ~11am PT) — separate thread: “I also don’t have access to it. I requested access” → “Awesome!!” (access to a doc/tool; no action for you).
  • Nothing else live — channel unreads are stale backlog (mid-May Josh/Greg shares, no asks). Friday’s Dan-email approval thread is closed (email sent).

Correction to this morning’s first pass: I initially called Slack “quiet” because Josh’s group-DM message was already marked read and my unreads scan missed it. Checked the Josh threads directly on the re-ask.

Reminders

Cadence Nudges

  • Timecard due today (Jun 15) — file via Axess. Then file 6/16–30 early by Thu Jun 18 (Jun 30 deadline is during OOO).
  • GPS retrospective — working window is Mon–Thu; Thursday’s 1:1 is the checkpoint.
  • Logic model quarterly review — June is end of Q2; fold into Thursday’s 1:1.
  • Monthly Airtable + strategic horizon — end-of-June beats land during OOO. Knock out early this week or punt deliberately to early July.
  • Meeting prep suggested: /meeting-prep Stanford::Latvia (Wed 10am, MOU) and /meeting-prep Kellie (Wed 4:30pm — bring Dan’s green light + the Kristen study-design suggestion).
  • New Fizzy cards created today: #131 (Jessica feasibility), #132 (SofIA session), #133 (Isabelle feedback), #134 (Elena inquiry).

Personal lists (Claude / Claude-ToDo)

Unchanged aspirational items (Google Workspace CLI, SQLite exec-assistant, DeepMind skills, echinacea, SofIA vibe-coding review, “not paying for Amazon Business”). Nothing due, nothing new to move to work tracking.

From Inbox Processing

INBOX had two Jun 12 Spellar auto-captures — both personal/non-AS, so nothing routed to work files (preserved in meetings/spellar/):

  • “Reuben Thiessen’s Zoom Meeting” — Chris Crane tech support (Dropbox, passkeys, email aliases, Gift Pack Calculator).
  • “Mentoring Program Review & Property Management Discussion” — property management (units, contractor, notarization) + a mentoring-program AI companion tool.

INBOX cleared.

Today’s Priorities (Top 5)

  1. File the timecard (6/1–6/15, due today) — 5-minute Axess task, hard deadline.
  2. OKR doc prework for Josh — add ≥3 questions before tomorrow’s 11am AS:DE. Small but time-boxed. (Fizzy #135)
  3. GPS retrospective — put a real writing block on it; Thursday’s 1:1 is the checkpoint and you’re out after. (80eacc95, b4acd418)
  4. Start the Jessica Tsang feasibility reviews — 14 apps, must clear before OOO Jun 19 (official deadline Jun 23). (Fizzy #131)
  5. Decide Sergio’s Thu 2pm SofIA session + reply (Fizzy #132); reply to Isabelle on the Flash Lab feedback (Fizzy #133); fix Wen’s MyBook save bug (e4d6e1e1).

Session Notes

(Added through the day.)

Generated: 2026-06-15 morning. Open focus day, no work meetings. OOO countdown: four working days. Email surfaced Dan’s green light (→ Kellie Wed), Isabelle’s Flash Lab feedback, a Sergio/SofIA Thu-2pm ask, and Jessica Tsang’s Jun-23-but-really-this-week feasibility reviews. Nothing pressing on Slack.
