1. ISTE Debrief (Lead with this)
Meeting was Wed Feb 25 — Josh, Isabelle, Jessica Garner, Joseph South, Reuben.
Key outcomes:
- Rev-share + authorized provider model discussed
- ISTE charges $7,500/day for CLS — useful pricing benchmark
- Train-the-trainer approach: Josh prefers SAL direct involvement (not outsourcing to ISTE entirely)
- Activation Stage concept: 20-30 min Flash Lab intro + CTA for full experience at school/district
- Google funding angle — Joseph’s suggestion
- Chris Agnew (ISTE) — potential EL magazine / stretchAI connection
Josh shared an “ISTE <> Stanford” Google Doc after the meeting. Review this before the 1:1 — key topics:
- Authorized provider model
- Train-the-trainer approach (Josh wants SAL direct involvement)
- Tinkery CoP role (Gregory Wilson)
- Managing overlap with other Stanford AI PD units
Follow-ups to discuss:
- Due diligence on ISTE: How many trainings? Revenue potential? PL landscape.
- CLS faculty vs 90 contractors — same people? How transient?
- Quality control framework for “certified trainer” branding
- Timeline: sign partnership before ISTE Live?
- Chris Agnew follow-up (Reuben)
- Isabelle on OTL contact + dean buy-in (waiting)
2. SMART Goals Review
Four goals, Feb–May 2026 (full doc at goals/smart-goals-feb-may-2026.md):
| Goal | SMART Target (by May 31) | Key Leading Indicator |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Communication Architecture | 4/4 monthly meetings + 75% tag coverage | Weekly Airtable hygiene happening? |
| 2. Strategic Influence | ISTE signed + 2 workshops + 5 consultations documented | ISTE terms drafted by mid-March? |
| 3. Scalable Capacity | 6+ facilitators + ISTE co-facilitation + Tinkery v1 | CRM re-engagement sent by mid-March? |
| 4. Sustainable Leadership | 3 routines maintained + physical added + Logic Model in 2 conversations | Physical routine started by Mar 7? |
Ask Josh: Do these feel right? Too ambitious? Not ambitious enough?
3. Capacity Building Model Highlights
Full doc at reference/capacity-building-model.md. Key points if Josh hasn’t read it:
- Two programs, one system: Build-a-Bot is the on-ramp, Flash Lab is the deep dive
- Three personas (from Feb 24 AS:DE): Instructional Practices, Contextual Curiosity, Identity
- Three-tier scaling pipeline: Direct delivery → Train-the-trainer → Self-serve toolkit
- Ecosystem feeding: Every session routes participants to CSET/PLEX, Challenge Success, youcubed, PACE — “Build-a-Bot and Flash Lab are the appetizer, PLEX is the meal”
- Revenue: $3K-$5K per facilitated session, $15K-$25K for TTT cohort. Market research backs this.
- Current state: 2 facilitators running independently (Courtney, Anna-Lena), 15+ workshops delivered (3 Flash Labs), 1,000+ bots on bot101.app
- 6-month roadmap: ISTE terms March → TTT April → co-facilitation May → independent sessions June
“5 Questions” at each horizon are in the doc — good discussion material.
4. PLEX / Christine Bywater Meeting (11:15 AM today)
Context for Josh: Right after the 1:1, we have the chat with Christine about PLEX (Professional Learning EXtension). Christine is spearheading it — CSET may be rebranding.
Questions to align on before that meeting:
- How do we position Flash Lab relative to PLEX? (The model doc frames it as “Flash Lab feeds PLEX” — is Josh aligned?)
- Is PLEX a collaborator, a competitor, or a distribution channel for us?
- The ISTE doc mentions managing overlap with other Stanford AI PD units — PLEX is exactly that overlap.
5. Quick Updates
- MyBook/Wen: Firestore rules fixed (extended to 12/31/26). Wen wants a data collection dashboard for AI Trust Survey. Agreed to prototype by Friday.
- Health Coach Bot: Meeting cancelled (Marily’s dog ER visit). Rescheduling to next week.
- Tequity + CRISPRkit: Alex Choi reached out. Josh — did your reply cover next steps?
- Legal 101: Follow-up email finally sent this morning. 53 survey responses. Project complete.
- End-of-month debrief: Anything from Tuesday’s meeting to revisit?
Suggested Agenda (45 min)
- ISTE debrief + Google Doc review (15 min) — the main event
- PLEX alignment (5 min) — quick pre-alignment before 11:15 Christine meeting
- SMART goals walkthrough (10 min) — get Josh’s gut check
- Capacity building model (10 min) — highlights + “5 questions” discussion
- Quick updates (5 min) — MyBook, Health Coach Bot, Legal 101
