Josh 1:1 Prep — Thursday March 12, 10am

Zoom: https://stanford.zoom.us/j/94194351840 (Password: 588228) Note: This is the last 1:1 before Josh goes to Michigan (Mon-Wed 3/16-18). Next 1:1 is Thu 3/19.

1. OTL Meeting Debrief (Mar 9)

Outcomes from the meeting with Brooke and David:

  • Two-tier model confirmed: Open-source workshop materials + proprietary train-the-trainer content
  • Work-Service Agreement (WSA) is the likely contract structure, not formal IP license
  • Decision: No OTL web disclosure needed — this isn’t an invention, it’s a services agreement
  • YouCubed precedent: “Summer Camp inspired by YouCubed at Stanford” — revenue from training, not curriculum
  • Copyright notice + Terms of Use added to designkit.stanford.edu (done Mar 11)
  • Waiting on Brooke: Following up with Geoff Cox and YouCubed for contract precedent

Questions for Josh:

  • Next step: Do we wait for Brooke, or start developing the proprietary TtT materials now?
  • Flash Lab naming — Isabelle raised this. Is this a conversation for us, OTL, or marketing?
  • UBIC tax implications — David said OTL prefers to “completely remove it from the university.” What does that mean for our revenue model?

2. Goals Write-Up

Status: Did you get/review the goals write-up? (Action item to send has been rolling forward — confirm status.)

Key refinements from Mar 5 1:1:

  • Goal 2: Bundle strategic work into case study deliverable
  • Goal 3: Reach/Revenue/Model Validation framework, 1.5x engagement growth target
  • Still need to fold logic model into Q1.5 goals

3. Leon Furze Update

Replied Mar 10 (sent Flash Lab materials + dissemination strategy + feedback questions). International AI-in-ed thought leader, warm connection via Josh intro. Watch for response — could become a [BRIDGE-BUILD] or [MULTIPLIER].

4. Stage 2 Seed Grants (Confidential)

From Tuesday’s AS:DE: Dan secured 6-figure funding for Stage 2. Small handful of projects getting funded, will need AS:DE support. “Getting off the launch pad.”

  • Which projects are in the running?
  • What does “AS:DE support” look like for Stage 2? Same model or more intensive?
  • Timeline?

5. CRM Survey Questions

Status check — did Josh receive the draft for async review? Process: Reuben drafts → Josh reviews → send to CRM contacts.

6. Next Week While Josh is in Michigan

  • Mon 3/17: SAL All Hands (10am, ANKO Building / Zoom) — Isabelle organizing. Reuben attending via Zoom.
  • Tue 3/17: AS:DE Meeting — will this happen with Josh in Michigan, or skip?
  • Wed 3/18: Health Coach Bot regroup with Marily, Michele, Priya (9am)
  • Thu 3/19: STACKED — Josh 1:1 (assuming he’s back), SofIA (12:30), CRAFT (2pm), LAUSD Foundation (3pm)
  • Anything Reuben should handle while Josh is out?

7. Quick Mentions

  • Sent moderator bot info + OpenAI moderation policy research to Sarah Williams-Habibi (for VFT, today’s monthly meeting)
  • Forwarded Crystal AI + Equity Conference (Mar 21) to Christina Hewko + Sarahi
  • Learning Design Challenge judging done last night
  • New: Need to ask for Apr 2-3 off (Micah’s birthday + camping)
