What It Is

Two-sided tear sheet for AI Flash Lab. Front = what Flash Lab is + outcomes + differentiators + proof. Back = engagement options + pricing + scoping process.

Companion to the AS one-pager (as-one-pager.md). The one-pager introduces the studio; the tear sheet sells a specific offering.

Why It Exists

Reuben needs a partner-facing artifact that names Flash Lab pricing tiers without forcing every conversation into a custom-quote-from-scratch loop. Comparable orgs (PBLWorks, Smekens, ISTE) all publish at least price ranges — Flash Lab has been quote-on-request, which slows down sales conversations.

Acute need: ISTE / Joseph South meeting, Lane Young / Alexander Dawson call (May 8 — defer pricing to written follow-up), Lakshmi (Chris Lemons lab) summer Flash Lab exploration.

Source / Origin

  • May 8, 2026 inbox capture — paired with AS one-pager strategy thread
  • Pricing baseline from reference/capacity-building-model.md (Feb 2026 market research + ISTE Feb 25 scoping deal)
  • Cost sheet drafted by Reuben, sent to Josh Wed eve (May 6); no feedback as of May 8 morning
  • AS one-pagerprojects/quick-builds/as-one-pager.md
  • Flash Lab briefingprojects/briefings/ai-flash-lab.md
  • Capacity-building modelreference/capacity-building-model.md (full pricing rationale + market comps)
  • Market researchreference/market-research-comparable-orgs.md
  • Flash Lab special sauceprep/2026-03-19-flash-lab-special-sauce.md (the 6 differentiators)

Open Calls for Reuben

  • Lock pricing with Josh before any external send
  • Decide whether ISTE’s $7,500/day CLS rev-share appears as a public anchor (currently treated as partner-specific, not public)
  • Decide “starts at” vs. fixed pricing
  • Confirm Tier 4 (Authorized Provider) is a publicly stated offering or still in development
  • Add fresh proof points / partner logos before send

DRAFT — FRONT: What AI Flash Lab Is

AI FLASH LAB A Stanford Accelerator Studio program designkit.stanford.edu

Every educator and organization is asking the same question: “When should we use AI, and how much?” Flash Lab is how we help them answer it — together, hands-on, with their actual problems on the table.

A 3-hour, hands-on workshop that takes a group from “AI feels overwhelming” to “we have a prototype, a point of view, and a next step” — using the problems they already care about, not made-up scenarios.

THE FORMAT — DESIGN · BUILD · ADVOCATE

Design (45 min) Build (90 min) Advocate (45 min)
Identify the problem space. Articulate a real challenge worth solving. Rapidly prototype with AI tools (chatbots, image gen, no-code). Stress-test what works — and what doesn’t. Make the case for the solution. Discover where AI is — and isn’t — the right tool.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS LEAVE WITH

  • A working prototype and a clear point of view about it
  • Practical fluency with 2–4 AI tools in the context of their work
  • An “Achieve Failure” finding — at least one place AI didn’t fit, and why that matters
  • A path forward routed to deeper Stanford programs (CSET, PLEX, youcubed, PACE) when relevant

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

  • Problem-first, not tool-first. Design happens before anyone touches a tool.
  • Built around a meta-skill. Participants leave able to ask when AI helps — not just how to prompt it.
  • Designed to scale through people. Every Flash Lab is designed so a trained facilitator could run the next one.
  • Stanford research credibility. Grounded in learning science. Iterating on evaluation data from international pilots.

SIGNAL (refresh before send)

  • Delivered with ISTE, Oman Ministry of Education, UNESCO, NewSchools, Learning Planet (Paris), The Tinkery, Lake Forest School District
  • Independent facilitators in Texas, Paris, the Bay
  • 1,000+ AI artifacts shipped through paired Build-a-Bot program

“I flew back home saying ‘I made a thing!’” — Vanessa Monterosa, NewSchools Venture Fund

“AI Flash Lab could help figure out which agents you need.” — Kelly, Australian Research Council

DRAFT — BACK: How to Engage

Four ways to bring Flash Lab to your people. All custom-scoped — these are starting points, not menus.

1 · SINGLE SESSION (FACILITATED BY US) We come to you (or you come to us). 3-hour Flash Lab, customized to your context. Best for: funders, conferences, leadership convenings, “first taste” engagements. Includes: Pre-call scoping, materials, facilitation, light evaluation, follow-up referral routing. Starts at $5,000. (Up to ~30 participants. Travel billed separately.)

2 · TRAIN-THE-TRAINER COHORT We train your people to run Flash Lab independently — with materials, observation, and ongoing quality support. Best for: professional associations, district networks, foundations placing Flash Lab across a portfolio. Includes: 6-week cohort, co-facilitation of a live Flash Lab, observation + debrief, Stanford-backed methodology, named Authorized Provider relationship. Starts at $20,000 per cohort (typically 3 facilitators). Per-facilitator pricing available.

3 · MULTI-SESSION ENGAGEMENT Flash Lab as part of a larger PD arc: a series, a coaching wrap, or a sustained capacity-building partnership. Best for: schools and districts that want sustained development, not a one-time event. Includes: Multiple sessions, 1:1 leader coaching, custom artifact development, mid-engagement re-scoping. Custom quote. (Comparable engagements: Lake Forest, Christine Bywater’s PLEX series.)

4 · TOOLKIT LICENSE / AUTHORIZED PROVIDER For organizations ready to run Flash Lab at scale under their own brand, with our methodology and materials. Best for: ISTE-style partners, ministries, large education networks. Includes: Annual access to current toolkit, facilitator vetting, quality-assurance support, brand co-attribution. Starts at $15,000/year. Rev-share models available for high-volume partners.

ADD-ONS (à la carte)

  • Custom workshop variant (e.g., research-focused, “Flash Lab for Researchers” — co-developed with Learning Planet) — quote
  • Embedded Build-a-Bot session (chatbot prototyping precursor) — bundles available
  • Evaluation + impact study support (publishable artifact) — quote

HOW WE SCOPE

  1. 30-min discovery call — what are you trying to solve, and for whom?
  2. Written scope + price within a week, including learning objectives and success criteria.
  3. Design partnership — we co-shape the session for your audience and context.
  4. Delivery + follow-up — facilitation, evaluation, and routing to next steps.

WHAT WE’RE NOT We’re not a vibecoding workshop, an AI tool demo, or a generic “intro to AI” session. If you want any of those, we’ll happily refer you. We’re the people you call when you need your team to develop judgment about AI — not just exposure to it.
